As always, the release of a new issue brings with it excitement, as we celebrate our amazing writers, editors, journalists, artists, photographers and everyone else involved in creating this magazine. We continue to expand our Student Spotlight community, overcoming challenges with distance, as we often face in the remoteness of the Northern Territory, as well as busy schedules. As we approach the end of the school year and assessments and exams loom over most of our members, I am impressed with everyone’s commitment to spreading these inspiring stories of young people doing amazing things.
In this issue, we focused a lot on our Youth Community and the challenges facing young people, from social media to healthcare, we look into the triumphs and resilience of young people in the Northern Territory. I always find it so inspiring to look at these young people who are achieving such amazing things and are speaking out for what they believe in. At the Northern Territory Student Society, we continue to strive to give these amazing young people a platform to be celebrated.
Our amazing journalists and writers also investigate issues relating to our youth in our modern society. In this issue we scrutinize the effect of social media and politics, keep it light with a movie and book review, showcase the journey of talented young dancer Amalia Baker, and spotlight the amazing work of our Territorian Youth Parliamentarians.
By challenging our young reporters to write a variety of articles, we’re helping them develop their investigative and writing skills. We continue to provide opportunities for our members to reach out to the community, get involved and ask questions, no matter how uncomfortable. I am so proud of the growth our members have shown over the 13 issues and greatly look forward to continuing the important work. Despite challenges we face, our amazing NTSS team continue to highlight the stories that sometimes get buried in larger media as a magazine made by young people for young people.
